Urad Dal

Black gram is an extremely well-known gram and is commonly used in the Indian subcontinent. It has various other names such as black lentils, mungo beans, and matpe beans and is scientifically called the Wigna Mungo. It is called urad dal in Hindi, koilai dal in bangla, mainapapappu in telugu, etc.
It is one of the most vital varieties of pulse in the Indian subcontinent, and has a lot of nutrients in it. Urad dal has high amount of protein, fat and carbohydrates required by the body. It is also a rich source of vitamin B.

Health benefits of urad dal-
1 It is very rich in fiber and therefore improves digestion. It contains both type of dietary fiber soluble and insoluble, therefore, has a dual purpose: to accelerate the digestion process and prevent constipation and improve stool volume. 2 It is known as a demulcent, aphrodisiac and nerve tonic. It improves the reproductive fluid, invigorates the body, increases lactation, and serves as an effective laxative. 3 It is also good for women as it has iron, folic acid, calcium, magnesium, potassium which makes it a healthy pulse. 4 Uraddhuli or black gram or has antibacterial properties that can disappear age spots and acne. It also helps in skin regeneration and therefore is an excellent means to maintain youthful skin.
